Key Stage 4 curriculum overview:
GCSE URDU is a linear qualification, students will sit all their exams at the end of the two-year course. Three themes will be covered in the subject content:
- Theme 1 – Identity & Culture
- Theme 2 – Local, National, International and Global areas of interest
- Theme 3 – Current & Future Study & Employment
GCSE Urdu has a Foundation Tier (grades 1-5) and a Higher Tier (grades 4-9). Students will take all four question papers in the same tier.
Students will be assessed in four components:
- Listening – 25% of GCSE
- Speaking – 25% of GCSE
- Reading – 25% of GCSE
- Writing – 25% of GCSE
Knowledge check dates:
Students will be continually assessed throughout the course in all four components and all three themes. They will be given exam style questions to match potential content of real exams.

- PPE 1 – beginning of May (Year 10)
- PPE 2 – Mid November
- PPE 3 – beginning of February
