Black Lives Matter Statement – 05.06.2020

At Cockshut Hill School we have always celebrated the diversity within our school and community. We take pride in being a school that is fully inclusive and demonstrates respect to all, regardless of colour, race, religion, gender or sexual orientation. ‘Our ability to reach unity in diversity will be the beauty and the test of our civilisation’ (Mahatma Gandhi) ‘Black Lives Matter’

Summit Learning Trust is appalled at the murder of George Floyd in the United States of America on May 25. We support the peaceful protests that so many have taken part in to show solidarity with this cause. We recognise that racism is not just an American issue.

Our Trust is entirely committed to fighting racism and prejudice in all and any of its forms, and to the active promotion of equality for all. We recognise the heightened distress caused directly to so many of our colleagues, pupils, families and communities in the current situation. We are with you. We are determined to work together to make positive change and to create a just society for all. Without justice there will be no peace.

Through education, humility and open mindedness we will strive to raise the levels of understanding and knowledge of the inequalities in our society to better challenge and fight against them. It is vital that we work together as a community to support each other, and to say:

Black Lives Matter.
