Five Year 9 students took part in the first iRail event in Birmingham and got an insight into the variety of careers that are up and coming in the wide rail network industry. They got to tour Grand Central, including the underground tunnels used in the past by Royal Mail, the views of the city as well as a look at the signalling and control room. Students were also able to interrogate the British Transport Police about their role in this industry! Later on that day students worked with high tech equipment including VR technology on an ex-Euro tunnel engine room! The students also took part in an engineering challenge. An exciting and insightful day into the future of the engineering industry in the region!
