Key Stage 4 curriculum overview:

 

Pupils are given a more flexible approach to the curriculum focussing on both the competitive aspect and the recreational aspect of sport. Pupils will also have the opportunity to work with local primary schools and develop their leadership skills. Pupils will cover the following sports/activities changing every half term. The activities/sports which are offered will depend on the ability and dynamics of the groups. Pupil preference of activity/sport is also taken into consideration.

Several school games competitions are entered throughout the year for various sports and pupils are given the opportunity to represent the school when these competitions arise. Students made it to the finals of the Handball competition this year, with the girl’s team taking away a silver medal.

Trips and visits offered:

  • Girls GCSE PE visit to a Wasps Netball event, which provided students with on opportunity to meet the players and join in with a number of different skill sessions.
  • Girls GCSE PE visit to go and watch Wasps Netball Vs Severn Stars, which allowed students to observe excellence in the sport and to gain an insight as to how Netball should be played.
  • PE Rewards trip to go and watch England Women Vs Ireland Women in the Rugby Six Nations for those students that have represented the school competitively. Last year’s reward trip also saw us take a visit to Wembley Stadium to watch the women’s FA Cup Final.
  • GCSE PE and V Cert visit to The University of Birmingham, providing our students with the opportunity to learn about social media and technology in sport.
